Many banks are increasing their focus on wealth management and higher wealth customers.  In today’s legal and regulatory environment, there are many consumer protection implications affecting wealth-focused business lines, including retail brokerage and banking products. We will cover strategies to help manage sales practices and methods to help mitigate the risks in wealth management as it relates to consumer protection, fiduciary duties, CRA and fair lending performance.

Greg Soueid

Greg Soueid, Managing Director with Treliant, is head of the firm’s wealth management service area. Greg has over 25 years of experience in the wealth management, asset management, and capital markets sectors in both domestic and international senior leadership roles. As an industry executive and senior advisor/consultant, he has designed and led growth strategies, product and service development, regulatory change, risk and control enhancement, and cost and efficiency transformation. 

Over the course of his career, Greg has held senior product/business management and Chief Operating Officer (COO) roles at industry-leading companies such as Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, JPMorgan, and PwC, including: 
-PwC – Managing Director, Wealth Management 

-JPMorgan Private Bank – Managing Director and COO, Asia Pacific

-Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management – Director and Head of Operating Platform Management 

-Citigroup Private Bank – Director and Head of Strategic Projects, Global COO Office 

-Goldman Sachs – Executive Director, Global Equities Business Management 
Prior to joining Treliant, Greg was a Managing Director in PwC’s Financial Services Advisory practice, where he co-led the wealth management practice. In this capacity, he assisted companies with strategic change to enhance growth, operating leverage, and competitiveness. He also led numerous regulatory change initiatives with wealth management companies as they adapted their businesses to meet new and existing fiduciary standards.   

Before that, Greg was the COO for JPMorgan's Asia Pacific Global Wealth Management division, which included the private bank and private wealth management businesses. He had operating responsibility across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including operating strategy, business management, regulatory change, technology, operations, client service, and business risk.  
Greg has extensive international experience with assignments in Tokyo (4 years), London (3 years), Zurich (2 years), and Hong Kong (4 years). 
Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in Management and International Business from the New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business. 

Lyn Farrell

Senior Advisory Board Member, Treliant

Lyn Farrell is an experienced Regulatory Compliance executive, with over 35 years of experience in banking law and compliance.  She is a Senior Advisory Board Member at Treliant, LLC.  

Lyn has led many diverse and complex compliance projects for large financial institutions, including: 
-Developing a regulatory compliance strategic plan for a financial institution that primarily operates in the Fintech space; 

-Assisting the CCO of a top 10 U.S. bank to make the regulatory compliance program more proactive, strategic and integrated with the businesses and other risk management disciplines within the organization; 

-Designing and building a comprehensive Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) audit program for the internal audit division of a top 10 U.S. financial institution, including developing the annual audit plan, scoping the individual audits, and writing the audit scripts; 

-Assisting a top 20 bank implement all aspects of the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure Rule (TRID), including revamping business processes, enhancing risk controls, writing policies and procedures and creating job aids to assist first line staff to implement this complex regulation; 

-Developing the “UDAAP University” training program for the compliance departments at three of the top 20 financial institutions and for the internal audit departments at 3 of the top 20 US banks; 

 -Overhauled the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program for a top 20 US financial institution, including writing a new program document, reviewing its assessment areas and investments, and implementing a shift in the critical focus of its nationwide community development staff; 

-Reviewing the potential acquisition by a top 20 U.S. bank of a large non-bank financial organization and provided advice on limiting the company’s regulatory risk by integrating and expanding the current compliance function and making it more strategic in its execution. 

Lyn has a passion for leadership development and has designed the Treliant Institute for Strategic Compliance Leadership, a leadership program exclusively for compliance professionals in financial institutions 
She is a frequent speaker at banking events and regularly publishes articles on a variety of banking-related topics.  Her recent publications include:

She received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and her JD from the University of Houston.  Lyn is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), and an attorney, licensed in the state of Texas.  She was the 2012 recipient of the ABA’s Distinguished Service Award. 

Lynn Woosley, CRCM

Engagement Director, Treliant, LLC

Lynn Woosley is an Engagement Director with Treliant, LLC.  She is a seasoned executive with extensive risk management experience in regulatory compliance, consumer and commercial credit risk, credit and compliance risk modeling, model governance, regulatory change management, acquisition due diligence, and operational risk in both financial services and regulatory environments. 

Over the last two decades, Lynn has held leadership positions including Senior Vice President and Fair and Responsible Banking Officer; Group Vice President for Wholesale Transaction Modeling; and First Vice President for Portfolio Management within the Enterprise Risk Management division of a top 10 bank.  Prior to joining the private sector, Lynn served as Senior Examiner and Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.   
With strong knowledge and experience across multiple risk disciplines, Lynn has been a featured speaker for numerous banking, compliance, and CRA conferences across the country. Lynn has authored several articles and presentations on financial institution risk management and consumer protection issues.  She has also developed training materials related to fair lending, fair housing, UDAAP, credit risk management, credit scoring, and consumer protection topics. 
Lynn holds a BBA and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University and an MS Finance from Georgia State University.  She is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager and a Commissioned Examiner of the Federal Reserve System. Lynn has also served as both Chair and Vice-Chair of the Consumer Bankers Association’s Fair and Responsible Banking Committee.
